Ditte Julie is a multi-talented individual, known for her skills in communication, design, and entrepreneurship. She's also a successful cookbook author and a passionate speaker.
In 2021, Ditte Julie took on the ambitious project of revitalizing an older villa, a house that was in need of significant attention and care. Instead of opting for the conventional route of tearing down the house and constructing a standard replacement, she was determined to preserve the building's rich history and character. This commitment led her to embark on an extensive renovation and expansion project, which included a redesign of the kitchen.
"The kitchen acts as the central focal point of the house. It's where family and friends gather, creating an atmosphere of both harmony and spaciousness"
- Ditte Julie
Choice of materials
Ditte Julie wanted to bring the colors of nature into her kitchen. So she chose a laminate front in a deep, dark sandy color and a distinctive worktop with warm brownish tones. This choice creates a connection to the natural world and adds a warm and inviting feel to the kitchen.
A cabinet solution that enhances organization
In the tall cabinet, Ditte Julie opted for a clever addition – the Tandem pull-out. This pull-out comes with an additional shelf system attached to the door, offering a complete view of the contents. This is an improvement over fixed shelves where reaching items at the back can be challenging.
Appliances and aesthetics
The built-in appliances contribute to the kitchen's sleek appearance. Combined with the black oven, stove, and wine cooler, they seamlessly merge with the overall design, creating a sense of harmony.
Hob with integrated cooker hood
In her former kitchen studio, Ditte Julie had experienced the convenience of a cooktop with a built-in extractor hood, and she was fond of it. So, it was a natural decision for her to integrate an induction cooktop with an integrated extractor hood into her own kitchen.
She opted for an AEG Extractor hob, which featured a robust, built-in cooker hood. With this combined hob and extractor hood design, Ditte Julie had the flexibility to explore innovative placement options and ultimately chose to install the hob in the kitchen island.
The all-purpose tap
Quooker was the perfect choice for Ditte Julie, aligning with her desire for an elegant kitchen mixer with versatile functions. She opted for the Quooker Fusion in burnished brass, a faucet that not only complements the kitchen's design but also accentuates functionality.
The Quooker Fusion provides cold, hot, and boiling water, and as an extra benefit, it can even deliver chilled sparkling water.
The personalised details
The kitchen's appeal lies in the personal choices and distinctive details. These elements set the stage for genuine kitchen affection. For Ditte Julie, who has two children that thoroughly enjoy spending time in the kitchen, the kitchen's design needed to accommodate them as well.
